I am a firm believer in exposing my life to God’s Word on a daily basis. I believe that the benefits gained far exceed the cost of time and effort put into this discipline. When God has the opportunity to speak into our lives daily through his Word, we start to think more like Christ, act more like Christ, and see and treat others more like Christ would treat them.

Spending time in God’s Word daily is live-giving.

It’s spiritually healthy.

It’s incredible.

It’s essential.

This is a topic I’m not silent about. This is something I encourage the teens in our youth ministry about every week. I talk about it at home. I talk about it with friends and family. I believe it’s crucial.

In the past, I’ve written about the importance of daily Bible reading. I’ve compiled a list of tips to help you become more consistent in your Bible reading. I’ve shared some of my methods on getting the most out of your Bible reading. I’ve passed on information about how to keep your Bible reading from getting boring.  I’ve spent the entire year memorizing the Sermon on the Mount.

And I have another one I’d like to share.

One of the things I do every year for our youth ministry, and by extension, for our entire church body, is put together a booklet designed to help you read through the Bible in a year.

This booklet contains three different Bible reading plans mapped out day by day for the entire year. In one plan, you’ll read a portion of the Old Testament, a portion of Psalms and Proverbs, a portion of the Gospels, and a portion of the rest of the New Testament every day. The second plan included takes you from Genesis 1 through the end of Revelation, straight through. The third plan coordinates things a bit; when you read of David and Bathsheba, you’ll also read David’s repentance in Psalm 51, for example. And if none of these really connect with you, there is a whole page of additional resources you can check out to find the system that is right for you.

We’ve handed these out in paper form for several years in my youth ministries.

But this year, I converted it into an ebook format, as a PDF, and am making it available to download from here.
