An opportunity of incredible proportions has come our way. Many of you many know of the Creation Truth Foundation and Dr. G. Thomas Sharp. I have had the opportunity over the last three years to study under Dr. Sharp in one of the Institute for Biblical Worldview Studies Cadres. These Cadres meet twice a year for a week of intense worldview formation, studying Genesis 1-11. Over the course of these studies, I have become convinced that without a proper view of these early chapters of Genesis, one cannot have a proper understanding of the rest of the Bible.
As a result of my interest and passion for Creationism, Dr. Sharp has offered me a position with the Creation Truth Foundation. My role there will be to work closely with Matt Miles in the area of student worldview development, a crucial area in today’s youth ministry. Our division is called the S.W.A.T. Team — Student Worldview Advanced Training.
One of the reasons for my sense of urgency in this is our world’s biblical illiteracy. Woodward Kroll, in Taking Back The Good Book, says,
“One of the consequences of Biblical illiteracy is that those searching for answers to the great questions of life are left clueless. Without God’s eternal Word, they have no place to go for certain truth…. If we don’t have a reliable source of information, how will we know that any answer to any question is the right one?”
He goes on:
“Just 9 percent of all adults in America who claim to be ‘born again’ have a biblical worldview. You didn’t read that incorrectly – it was 9 percent.”
R. Albert Mohler Jr. said:
“Christians who lack biblical knowledge are the products of churches that marginalize biblical knowledge.”
Josh McDowell, in The Last Christian Generation, quotes a study by George Barna:
“His research showed that ninety-eight percent of professed born-again young people do ‘believe in Christ,’ but they do not reflect Christlike attitudes or actions!”
McDowell states later in that chapter:
“It is apparent that here at the beginning of the twenty-first century, we face a generation of young people who no longer hold to what most evangelicals consider to be the true foundations of the Christian faith: belief in the deity of Christ, the reliability of Scripture, and the bodily resurrection of Jesus.”
As a culture, we have thrown out the validity of the first eleven chapters of Genesis. If we can’t believe what God says about the creation of the earth, how can we believe what he says about our eternal destiny?
Can you see the need for an organization that partners with the local church to help them shore up the foundations of their biblical worldviews? Creation Truth Foundation does exactly that.
Being a part of the staff of Creation Truth Foundation will allow me to work in this crucial area. I will be able to help develop curriculum for students and children, curriculum that will help their teachers and parents as they instruct them in true biblical foundations. I will be able to partner with individual churches, through programs like Vacation Bible Schools, Summer Church Camps, and other programs like these, as well as the host of progrms offered by Creation Truth Foundation, to help them see the need for teaching a biblical worldview, and how to address that need.
So, it seems that, after 17 years of hands-on student and youth ministry, I am about to hang up my hat, and transition into a para-church role for student and childrens’ ministries. Sort of a bittersweet flavor, but we know that this is exactly what God has been preparing us for; and He’s been moving us in this direction for quite some time.
You can play a part in this. My position with CTF will be totally support funded. That means that, in essence, I am a missionary. I have to raise my support for this position to become a reality. And to do that, I need your help. I am asking you to take my family and I on as a part of your mission strategy. You know the importance, and the biblical mandate, of missions. What many don’t realize is that missions isn’t always overseas. There is an incredible need right here, in our own backyard. CTF is that mission, and your support is essential. We have to reclaim the reliability of Scripture, and it begins with Genesis 1-11.
This is such a vital ministry need in our culture. We truly are facing a reality much like the one described in Josh McDowell’s book, The Last Christian Generation.
If you would like more information about how you can support us, please let me know. I will send you a brochure about CTF, and about us, the Randleman family. This brochure details the philosophy and goals of CTF, and our involvement, including our financial support needs. I will also include a commitment card that you can fill out and return it to us, signifying your commitment to support us. And, in addition, I will send you a card that displays a photo of our family, as well as contact information for us, and Creation Truth Foundation. You can place this in a visible location as a reminder to pray for us and for CTF.
I would love to dialogue with you and detail further how you can be a support to us as we enter this ministry opportunity. Please feel free to contact us with any questions. And please, pray for us and CTF, and about your involvement with us and with CTF.
