Leaves are starting to turn. There is a chill in the air in the mornings. Bonfires and s’mores are staples. The hoodies have come out of the closet. Football games attract the whole town on Friday nights.
It’s fall. And winter is just around the corner.
We missed this season last year. We lived in Florida, and we wore shorts outside and walked on the beach on Christmas day. This year, we are back in the Ozarks, and looking forward to these crisper and cooler seasons after missing them. When we tell people this, they think we’re crazy. And that may be true, but my whole family is looking forward to cold weather for a change.
Though the weather may be starting to cool off, things at JeffRandleman.com are staying pretty hot. So, in case you missed them, here are my top seven posts for the month of September:
- The Difference Between Purpose, Vision, and Mission
- Why You Need To Develop A Philosophy Of Ministry
- Trying A New Bible Reading System
- Book Review – Sacred Pathways by Gary Thomas
- Book Review – Chronicles Of Dinosauria by Dave Woetzel
- 3 Characteristics Of A Bad Communicator
- 7 Steps To Defining A Purpose And Vision For Youth Ministry
The norm over the past several months has been to see several of the articles on purpose, vision and mission make the list. These are from the Foundations of Youth Ministry series, and they generate more traffic to my site than anything else I’ve written right now. That’s pretty exciting. And now that I’ve transitioned out of youth ministry, I’m considering a revision of these to reflect my experiences as a lead minister.
This month, however, two of the posts are more recent content. After a couple of months of seeing only older content make this list, my goal was to step up my writing to see newer content become more useful to people. This month, two different posts have made the list. One is a book review, and the other is from a mini series on communication.
My favorite post from September was a post that was reminiscent of the Foundations of Youth Ministry series, about a purpose statement I found at my favorite coffee shop, called Do What You Do Well. I also enjoyed writing a post on Becoming A Model, from 1 Thessalonians 1:7.
And with a lot of potentials hanging on the horizon, I have some great expectations for the near future.
I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to what’s in store for the coming days and weeks!
Have a great month!

Two posts actually tied for my top post in September. One was about small groups that I wrote quite a while ago, and one was a guest post written by David Bartosik about happiness. Here are the links:
